One of pop music’s most promising young boybands, VOILÀ, have released a new single, a powerful acoustic ballad Stand Tall. VOILÀ’s heartfelt tune is more acoustic and stripped-back than some of their poppier releases, but it will certainly connect with their ever-growing fanbase. Having teased the track on BBC Introducing in February, Guss Ross and Luke Eisner have officially premiered the full version on Billboard.

The concept behind Stand Tall came about when Gus discovered that a dear friend’s father had been stricken by life’s ultimatum. The perspective of a son confronted by the reality of losing his father, his role model, his maker, is a poignant one.

‘Stand Tall for a Lifetime, You got more to give, And I’ll hope for a Lifeline, You’ll be here to bring up your kids’ (Stand Tall’s hook)

While writing the rest of the song around the hook, Luke was struck by the most devastating news one could imagine, his father’s stage-four cancer diagnosis. Despite the bleak outlook, Luke managed to remain positive and appreciate the endearing moments in some of life’s darkest times.

“Watching him stand tall and fight, even when he knows that the cancer will never go away, is inspiring. It shows that even fighting a losing battle is worth it if you have something worth fighting for.” - Luke

Never ones to wallow in their own despair, Luke & Gus were determined to write a song that could help others struggling with such heartbreaking news; finding strength in the most ultimately heartbreaking situation imaginable. Stand Tall revolves around the concept of coming to grips with a loved one’s terminal illness and is undoubtedly the band’s most empowering anthem yet.

“We quickly realized that this song had a much more universal truth. We harnessed our personal experiences to provide a string of hope to encourage those battling illness, suicide, addiction, bullying, or any form of heartbreak to stand tall with us.” - Gus

Stand Tall is available now across all platforms. With 3 singles released thus far, VOILÀ are planning to drop their debut album Ask Me Yesterday in the spring of 2018.

About VOILÀ

“Refreshing,” “Romantic,” and “Relatable” are a few of the terms used to describe L.A.- based pop/rock act VOILÀ. Gus Ross and Luke Eisner, respectively from London and Wisconsin - combine authentic production, emotive vocals and magnetic lyricism as a duo.

Ross started out busking around London, which led to playing shows in London’s infamous West End: even performing for the Queen. He incorporates “raw emotion and old school jazz,” in his vocals. He is fascinated by the technicality of music and handles production.

On the other side of the world, Eisner’s passion for music came through lyricism: fascinated by timeless literature, he fronted bands in the midwest scene. “I strive to include at least one tattoo-able phrase in every song we write," says Eisner, who also maintains a professional modeling career, which helps craft the duo's aesthetic.

VOILÀ started 2018 as one of BBC Introducing Solent’s “Ones to Watch.” With millions of streams on their music to date, their singles “Hundredth Second Chance” and “Lately” continue to grow. After success on Spotify and BBC radio, the band drew eminent praise from the likes of Billboard, Pandora, and more.

They have supported the likes of Kesha, The Fray, X Ambassadors, Flume and Martin Garrix and will be closing out 2018 with a string of LA shows and the eagerly anticipated release of their new single. With their ambitious spirit, impressive dedication, and undeniable charm - VOILÀ look set for Wembley
